This has been a very exciting year full of lots of change! A shift to the big smoke meant I unfortunately had to move on from the lovely south west including a number of great organisations like (Bristol Women In Music, St George’s Bristol and Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival). However, it also meant that I’ve started to work with the amazing event producers, Serious who deliver a huge variety of work including the EFG London Jazz Festival.

The festival is across 300 events throughout the whole of the city of London, with Serious focusing on around 70 events over the 10 days in terms of their own promotions. The production team are responsible for supporting the delivery of the events across the areas of transport, accommodation, technical, hospitality, staffing and volunteers so we’re kept quite busy. The festival was a great success for 2017 and we’re already looking forward to bringing another fantastic series of concerts for 2018.

Serious’ touring work includes a number of high profile artists such as Richard Thompson, Pat Metheny, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Ben Folds to name but a few. The tours are often produced by the in-house team and involve working with a range of national venues as part of the delivery, again the production team are responsible for all logistical aspects of the tour and financial accounting and settlement.

Other events throughout the year included supporting the Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival in a new role of Festival manager, we had our most successful year yet in terms of ticket sales and really establishing the festival as part of the annual gig calendar in the UK jazz scene.

The other smaller projects I was privileged to be a part of included taking on the role as treasurer for Sound Industry conference at Colston Hall, Artist Liaison for Love Supreme and Stage Manager for Proms at St Judes.

2018 is set to be another super year of events, festivals and music!
